Just an FYI!!

All Finished!

Sorry I haven't updated this lately, but COT is over, and I(we) are headed to San Antonio. We are sitting here unwinding in the hotel in Texas, about halfway to San An. It is much better splitting up the trip, both for shorter drives, and less time for the kids to be cooped up in the car(van). QUIET TIME

We had nothing to do this weekend here at training, and all our written tests are completed, so I decided to have a ME day. I got up early, went to the gym and got my workout in, and showered, changed into some NORMAL clothes, then off to town. I spent a few hours reading quietly in the local Barnes and Noble(the quiet was AWESOME), then went to Pannera bread for an early lunch; 2 reasons: good food, and free WI-FI. I have been surfing the net and catching up on the news I have missed the last few weeks, and reading my massive amounts of Email that was backed up. Next goal is to catch up on my Bible reading.....I have been entirely too tired most nights to do much after studying. 6 more days until graduation, and only 4 more until I see my family! I cannot WAIT! God has been good to me; our flight(14 people) finished with the top academic average on all the written tests here at Officer training, and one of the officers actually made 100% on all 3 tests! I made a 100, 86, and 92, which isn't too bad for someone who hasn't taken a REAL test in 13 years. Big thanks to all of you for your prayers.....please continue to pray that our move will go smoothly and that our house will sell without too much hassle or $$ out of pocket. Have a Blessed day!

Obstacle Course

Howdy! Today here in LOVELY Montgomery, AL, we worked on the high ropes challenge course(it is high up in the air, and you use safety cables), then we climbed(or attempted to) on a 40 foot climbing wall, then we climbed all the way to the top of the tower. The fun really started there. We were secured into our safety ropes by cables, then we had to walk out 20 feet on a log, touch the end log, then turn around and walk back to the tower, hopefully without touching our support ropes or falling(the ropes catch you). It is amazing how nerve racking that can be, even if you KNOW that the ropes will catch you. Some of my flight mates were petrified at various times, and I have to admit I had some moments as well; I kept repeating the "10 finger prayer", as Pastor Lindberg calls it(Phil 4:13), and it really helped. I really believe I had some divine helpers keeping my balance with me up there(I am not the most graceful person in the world). Thank you for all your prayers, they have been felt here. We have 8 more days until graduation, and I cannot wait to see my family, and get a nights sleep in MY bed! See you all soon!

WEEK 3 OVER...STILL ALIVE!!!

Hello to all my friends! I am sorry I have not updated this more often, but our days and nights have been packed FULL of activities and studying. I am starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel, and I am praying it is not a Train!(LOL) Our COT class has our final PT test Monday AM(we start at 0515), then our final written test Tuesday. We head out for a 2 day simulated field exercise Tuesday night, and it runs through Thursday night. We were granted off base privileges this weekend, and MAN was it nice to see the outside world again. I never realized how much I enjoyed wearing my OWN clothes! I haven't usually been able to talk for long periods, but I have called home frequently. I have never been separated from my family for this long, and I cannot wait to see them all in 2 weeks!! Please keep me and my wingmen in your prayers as we complete this journey, and head off to our bases, to do our part to keep this great country of ours safe and free!

Week Two

I guess I better take a moment while I have it and update the blog. I talked to Keith over the weekend and they got a free weekend. If I remember correctly, he got a chance to run to the BX Friday night. Then Saturday they went bowling. He sounded pretty upbeat, which is always a good thing. I am so proud of him!
I am begining to see light at the end of the tunnel. I have made reservations for the graduation weekend, bought my dress for the dinner. I am so nervous ... and excited at the same time, lol.
I guess that is about it for now.

INTO THE BLUE

Howdy y'all! Believe it or not, we do get some down time here at officer training, although not much. This first week has been very challenging, including learning to march, learning protocols, how to speak to superiors, and the Military way of doing things. I think the hardest thing, by FAR, is being away from my family. Thankfully, I have been able to call home several times this week, if only for a few minutes each time. We were able to attend chapel Sunday, and there are several different types of services here on base. Several of us attended the "contemporary" service, and most of the praise songs were ones I knew. It made sense afterwards...the Chaplain is an AG minister. The biggest thing I am struggling with currently is my voice. Standing out in the cold all week has wreaked havoc on my throat. God willing, I will start to get my voice back this week. Please keep my Flight mates and me in your prayers, because we are learning to depend our great nation one profession at a time!
